The role

Do you have experience of working with rodents? Working with farm species or maybe fish? Then come talk with us!!

What will you be doing?

You will be an experienced animal technician, working towards IAT Level 3 or equivalent qualifications. Contributing to the 3Rs and a culture of care will be very important to you and you will be confident to get involved in training and supervising more junior members of staff.

Weekend and Bank holiday working will be required on a rota basis. You may also be expected to participate in the out of hours rota. Although you will be placed in an area according to the specialism we are looking for, you may be expected to work in any of the University of Bristol Animal Service Unit facilities.

You should apply if
  • You will have experience of working with rodents, fish or farm animals including experimental uses, their husbandry, welfare and breeding
  • You should be used to IT animal management platforms and their use in keeping animals/cages up to date with the system and with cage labelling
  • You understand the requirements of welfare checks and what to do if a team member has a concern with any animal
  • You will have good verbal and written skills and be comfortable and professional in communicating with a range of staff from team colleagues to more senior staff including managers, Named Veterinary Surgeon and researchers
