The role
We are looking for a highly qualified animal technician who is a natural manager with a keen interest in staff development to help promote high standards across the unit in a consistent manner. They will ensure team colleagues are motivated and clear on their roles and responsibilities at all times.
What will you be doing?
You will be expected to work in any of the University of Bristol Animal Service Unit facilities to ensure departmental flexibility and resilience. Weekend and Bank holiday working will be required on a rota basis. You may also be expected to participate in the out of hours rota.

You should apply if
- Ideally you will be a NACWO, passionate about championing the 3Rs and a culture of care. Having an interest in holding a PIL and training and assessing others would be desirable
- You will have extensive experience of working with a range of laboratory animal species, including experimental uses, their husbandry, welfare and breeding
- You will be knowledgeable in the use of IT animal management platforms and their use in keeping animals/cages up to date with the system and with cage labelling
- You will have excellent verbal and written skills and be comfortable and professional in leading a range of staff and communicating from team colleagues to more senior staff including managers, Named Veterinary Surgeon and researchers
