The University of Colorado Denver | CU Anschutz is a branch of the University of Colorado focused on human health and the health care professions. The Department of Pathology is distinguished for its over 100 year history of seminal scientific discoveries, educational and clinical accomplishments. We employ nearly 100 diverse, subspecialty focused faculty from basic scientists to clinical scholars and educators. A primary site of practice is our not for profit quaternary care hospital and outpatient facilities known as the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH). It is the #1 hospital in Colorado designated by US News and World Report year after year. UCH is the major academic hospital of the UC Health System, which is affiliated with hospitals and outpatient centers across the State of Colorado and beyond. Women's' Health is a special focus of many departments within the University of Colorado School of Medicine, including the Department of Pathology. The multidisciplinary gynecologic cancer team at UCH includes internationally recognized subspecialists who provide highly integrated care to optimize patient outcomes. We seek to recruit a fellowship trained subspecialist in gynecologic pathology, who also has demonstrated expertise in general surgical pathology as well as breast pathology, to support our ever growing and important subspecialty anatomic pathology practice based at UCH and focused on Women's Health. Candidates with two anatomic pathology fellowships and/or academic experience in practice are particularly encouraged to apply.*Nature of Work:*The ideal candidate must be board certified by the American Board of Pathology. Primary area of clinical responsibility will be dermatopathology (~2/3). Approximately 1/3 of clinical responsibilities will need to be more general, and may include: frozen sections in rotation with other faculty, other subspecialty areas of surgical pathology (likely to be gynecologic pathology) and autopsy pathology. A minority of time will require you to practice in areas of surgical pathology other than dermatopathology as described above. Individuals with practice experience in an academic center and scholarly accomplishments, as well as those with additional fellowship training in anatomic pathology are preferred. The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic rank from Assistant to Associate Professor. Evidence of an ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team, provide one on one as well as case based learning to residents and fellows focused on outstanding patient care and evidence based medicine is sought. Individuals should be up to date in board certification by the American Board of Pathology, must be able to obtain a full unrestricted medical license in the State of Colorado, and credentialing through CU Medicine and UCH. The recruit will share sign-out responsibilities with others pathology and at least one other area of surgical pathology, as well as frozen sections and weekend call. If the candidate is more experienced and demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills, he or she may be offered a leadership position in this subspecialty area in the near term. Directors of subspecialty areas report directly to the Co-Directors of Surgical Pathology, play a major role in coordinating multispecialty care, and coordinate gynecological pathology efforts within the department.The AP practice at UCH that is owned and operated, both technical and professional, by the Department of Pathology. We place a strong emphasis on professionalism, team practice, and lifelong learning, thus we expect contributions from all faculty to our practice, educational and academic teaching missions. This position is expected in the regular, tenure eligible track. Thus, academic scholarship will be an important component of the position. An independent research effort, with external grant funding, is not required. Qualifications
*Minimum Qualifications:*The successful candidate must have an MD or equivalent and be board certified in Pathology and preferred to have completed at least one fellowship pathology. Training/expertise in other areas of surgical pathology and independent experience as an attending pathologist is desirable. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
