The role

This is a great opportunity to work in the Centre for Academic Primary Care, as a Clinical Studies Officer/Research Nurse on the multi-centre clinical trial ATHENA (Amitriptyline for the prevention of post-herpetic neuralgia). In this role, you will be the primary contact point for adults taking part in the West of England. As well as recruitment of participants, you will be responsible for communicating and supporting them through the trial and the follow-up period.

What will you be doing?

Recruitment will involve:
  • working with GP surgeries/secondary sites and the research networks as appropriate to publicise the study and identify potentially eligible participants;
  • answering questions and receiving full informed consent from participants and ensuring all the necessary regulatory and ethical frameworks of research conduct are observed.

You should apply if
  • you have excellent interpersonal skills and an in-depth knowledge of the study protocols and procedures
  • You are a meticulous record keeper and adhere to the regulatory codes of Good Clinical Practice.
  • You are able to travel around the region (to GP surgeries and patient's homes) on a daily basis.
  • You can work flexibly (including some work out-of-hours), independently and as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team

We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
