Are you enthusiastic about engaging young people in art & design?

Do you want to support widening participation of school students?

Since 2017, the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies (FAHACS) and the Arts & Humanities Outreach Team have been running the University of Leeds Art & Design Saturday Club as part of a national network coordinated by the Saturday Club Trust. The Club gives young people aged 13 to 16 (years 9, 10 and 11) the unique opportunity to study art & design on Saturday mornings at their local university, free of charge. As the Art & Design Saturday Club Coordinator, you will support the development and delivery of the Club between January and June 2022, including overseeing the consistency of the programme delivery on a week to week basis and ongoing communication and relationship building with Club members. You will also support the Arts & Humanities Outreach Team to develop and deliver other activities which raise the profile of arts subjects, both in person and online.

You will have enthusiasm, motivation and the ability to design engaging art based workshops for young people. You will need excellent organisational skills and communication skills to support the organisation and delivery of workshops and trips, including the Sumer Show visit to London, and the evaluation, monitoring and reporting of activity. You will also support the development of our relationships with academics, technical and professional staff, and external cultural partners to ensure their contribution to the delivery of activities.

This is a fixed term post between January and June 2022 with a guarantee of at least 160 hours. You will be required to work Saturdays during the Club's delivery (the provisional Club dates are 8, 15, 22 and 29 January; 5 and 12 February; 5, 12, 19 and 26 March; 23 April; 7, 14 and 21 May; and 4 or 11 June. Standard shifts are 9am-1pm, some shifts may be longer or shorter due to the nature of the session, e.g. a trip to a gallery), plus additional planning/development support, dates to be negotiated according to need and your availability.
