Position Summary:

Service: Must fulfill various service obligations to include public and/or community service, and participation in the activities for the Social Work department, CLA and the University

Teaching: This is a bipartite position, incumbent will be responsible for teaching the equivalent of three to four courses a semester. Must teach in all program modalities: online asynchronous, distance-based Zoom, and hybrid delivery; recruit, advise and support students.

To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized for unrestricted employment in the United States. No work visas will be sponsored for this position.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Social Work invites applications for a Term Clinical Assistant Professor of Social Work. Candidates shall demonstrate excellence in teaching and advising. Teaching duties include lower and upper division courses in Social Work as well as course development at the undergraduate level.

The successful candidate must hold office hours appropriate for the courses being taught and develop and modify curriculum for distance delivery and other teaching modalities.

A Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited (CSWE) university program by June 1, 2022.

Typical experience includes two years' practice experience in Alaska, with preference given to experience working with Alaska Native populations; demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds, including both traditional and nontraditional age, first generation, military, working students, and Indigenous populations; and previous experience teaching and/or learning in distance-based modalities.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include, but are not limited to, previous effective teaching/training experience, successful work experience in rural communities or agencies servicing Alaska Native populations, strong interpersonal and communication skills in an environment involving a variety of cultures and age levels, evidence of a potential for successful teaching and service, ability to advise or mentor students in a culturally diverse environment, ability to teach in face-to-face, hybrid delivery, and distance delivery formats, demonstrated commitment to taking on the diverse tasks associated with being a productive member of a small faculty, such as committee memberships and community service.
