Earlham College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Japanese Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position of Assistant Professor of Japanese Studies requires an earned Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or All But Dissertation (ABD) in East Asian Languages and Literatures or a similarly related field. A Foreign Educational Equivalent is accepted. The place of employment is at Earlham College, 801 National Road West, Richmond, Indiana 47374.
The responsibilities of the position of Assistant Professor of Japanese Studies include but are not limited to preparing and teaching post-secondary introductory and upper level classroom courses in Earlham College's Department of Japanese Studies in regard to the theory and practice of Japanese literature, history, culture, and language, and other related interdisciplinary and international studies program courses focused on Japanese Studies; evaluating and grading post-secondary students' assignments; maintaining student attendance records and grades; leading and conducting graduate and undergraduate research and publication; and participating in Earlham College governance and curriculum development.
