Summary

Seagen has an opportunity for an experienced scientist to be part of a vibrant and experienced leadership group in Translational Sciences driving the scientific understanding, development, and registration of novel therapeutics in a company dedicated to finding cures to cancer. The Translational Sciences Team Leader will participate in efforts to bring innovative drug candidates to approval. The successful candidate will lead product Translational Sciences teams (each composed of about 10 matrixed individuals from inside and outside of Translational Sciences) to develop and execute on the Translational Sciences strategy to enable drug development candidates to move through clinical development. The successful candidate will also work and communicate with product team members from many disciplines outside of Translational Sciences, such as Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Drug Safety. Keys for success will include effective leadership of cross-functional teams; reviewing and integrating project data from Translational Sciences efforts; communicating data and program impacts to key stakeholders and project teams; and developing and mentoring Translational Sciences teams. As part of the Translational Sciences leadership group, the successful candidate will be expected to have a significant degree of autonomy, act as a delegate for senior management roles, and be a key individual in department leadership succession plans. This position has the option of being based in our Seattle or San Francisco area offices.

Required skills:
  • An advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, DVM, MD) in a chemical, biological, pharmaceutical, medical, or related field with 12+ years industry expertise in a Translational Sciences discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues from multiple cultures, backgrounds, and geographies
  • Demonstration of strong leadership and influencing skills with cross-functional and product development teams
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategy across multiple functional areas
  • Experience with early (IND-enabling efforts) and late-stage (BLA/NDA-enabling efforts) clinical development programs
  • Ability to effectively communicate project status, science, and strategy to a wide variety of internal audiences (researchers, development staff, peers throughout the company, management, executives, and whole company)
  • External communication with industry scientists and/or regulators through conference presentations, publications, working groups, investigator meetings, and regulatory interactions
  • Knowledge of requirements and expectations for regulatory milestones in relevant jurisdictions (IND, EOP1, pre-BLA, PIP, BLA/MAA, etc.)
