  • Produce analytics that enable decision making throughout the agency surety and treaty enterprises.

  • Review technologies and assess operational effects related to chemical surety, nuclear surety, non-traditional agent (NTA) safeguards, nuclear and/or chemical accident and incident response assistance (N/CAIRA) initiatives.

  • Incumbent is required to travel in CONUS and OCONUS and must be sufficiently healthy to permit travel.
  • Travel is by commercial and military aircraft as well as other public/private conveyance as required when going to various CONUS and OCONUS locations on official business.
  • The incumbent must pass a medical screening for entry into chemical weapon storage facilities, chemical and biological laboratories, and radiological facilities for site visit purposes.
  • The incumbent must be able to wear chemical protective gear such as gas mask and protective clothing ensemble for entry into chemical weapons storage facilities.
  • This is a testing designated position. Personnel must pass drug screening prior to hiring and will be subject to periodic and random drug testing thereafter IAW AR 600-85.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Physical Scientist:

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Providing analysis in order to support various programs involving implementation of and/or compliance with chemical and nuclear surety; Recommending policies for agency positions on matters related to chemical and nuclear surety; and Reviewing written guidance for consistency and potential impact to operations in relation to chemical surety, nuclear surety, or non-traditional agent (NTA) safeguards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
