Job Summary

Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW) School of Polytechnic invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position starting August 15, 2022. The school seeks candidates with a desire and ability to teach first-year engineering technology students. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Engineering Education or a related engineering, engineering technology, or Polytechnic program. Candidates should address their experience teaching engineering technology or engineering courses, particularly any experience teaching first-year students. We are also interested in candidate's knowledge of and/or experience with best practices for engineering education as well as their industrial experience.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this position is related to teaching and advising. Successful candidates will be responsible for developing and implementing curriculum, pedagogy, advising, facilities, and student support for first-year engineering technology students. In the classroom, a faculty member will seek to develop and use a range of pedagogies, particularly active and cooperative approaches to provide an innovative and supportive environment to enhance the success of incoming engineering technology students in the first year and beyond. In addition, the successful candidate will also produce publishable research in engineering education or closely related areas. Position is contingent upon available funding and satisfactory background check.

The School

The School of Polytechnic has majors in six-degree programs which include Computer, Construction, Electrical, Industrial and Mechanical Engineering Technology along with Information Technology. All the Engineering Technology programs are accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. The student educational experience produces graduates who not only have profound technical knowledge, an ability to apply principles, and experiences relevant in their discipline but they can also problem solve, think critically, innovate, and communicate.
