Under the supervision of the designated section head, performs clinical laboratory procedures, quality assurance, and instrument maintenance. This position reports to the laboratory manager through the section head. The medical technologist also maintains cooperative working relationships with intradepartmental and interdepartmental personnel.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In the Fall of 2021, FPI will require all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Exemptions for medical or religious reasons will be processed through Human Resources.

This position reports to the laboratory manager through the section head. The medical technologist also maintains cooperative working relationships with intradepartmental and interdepartmental personnel.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field; or qualified as a Technologist
- Must be ASCP Certified
- Five to ten years experience
- Able to work independently
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrates technical skills and knowledge within the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Urinalysis and Microbiology
- Demonstrates technical skills and knowledge of all laboratory equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of all laboratory equipment problems/issues and notifies supervisor as needed.
- Analyzes specimens according to established laboratory SOP's.
- Ensures all relevant SOPs are followed and reviewed
- Accurately records results manually and/or electronically in the LIS system.
- Ensures CAP, UMPA, and GLP (when appropriate) guidelines are followed during laboratory testing.
