The Department of Pharmacology in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia invites applications for two open rank tenured/tenure-track faculty positions. We are interested in candidates applying multiscale cutting-edge approaches to study the systems neurobiology of interoceptive physiology and brain-body interactions: how an organism senses, integrates and regulates its internal state. Successful candidates will join a highly collaborative faculty and outstanding research department with strength in this area.
Successful applicants will have earned a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD, completed a minimum of three years of postdoctoral training, and demonstrated excellence in research with a strong potential of developing innovative research programs that can attract sustained extramural funding. Tenure status and rank of the position depend on qualifications. Appointment with tenure requires documented excellence in research and teaching, and an emerging national reputation. They will join a collaborative, inclusive, and dynamic group of investigators with similar research interests. Applicants with a respect for diversity and a passion for making a positive impact on the world in a collaborative environment are strongly encouraged to apply. Prospective faculty members can draw from an outstanding and diverse pool of graduate and MD/PhD students in the interdisciplinary Biomedical Sciences (BIMS) program to support their research program.

The University of Virginia is in Charlottesville, Virginia, which boasts of abundant recreational activities and easy access to the Blue Ridge Mountains, the eastern shore and the nation's capital. The Department of Pharmacology expects to recruit two new faculty members in the coming years, starting at the tenure track Assistant Professor level. However, well-qualified mid-career applicants with a funded research program are also encouraged to apply. Competitive salary, space, and start-up packages will be provided.

Priority application review will begin November 1, 2021, and the positions will remain open until filled.
