Job Description

As an Emergency Department (ED) Nurse in one of our Community hospitals you will have the opportunity to work in a brand-new care delivery model and expand your skill sets. You will triage and perform ongoing assessments and provide direct patient care to a variety of acuity levels and conditions working with all ages of patients. Confidence in your skills, the ability to time manage, being able to work well in high pressure situations and the capability to work independently are all required to be successful in this position. In this environment you will be the lead RN in the department.

The Community Hospital model provides you more time and space to give your best nursing care. You will work in a true teamwork environment working side by side with a board-certified emergency medicine physician and an experienced paramedic. If you are a compassionate nurse seeking a change and an exciting opportunity to have more time with patients in an emergency department setting, this is the position for you.

Responsibilities:

* Performing primary nursing functions of assessing, planning, directing, performing and evaluating patient care in the Emergency Room and Inpatient/Telemetry Unit to patients of all ages suffering from various types of illness or trauma that requires emergency attention.
* Serving as a professional role model by collaborating with clinical and front office staff, administration and other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care is delivered to optimal patient outcomes.

The Community Hospital Model is new and the first of its kind in the Kansas City Metro area. It allows nurses, physicians, and paramedics to work collaboratively in delivering patient care. Its unique design allows for shorter wait times and improved patient outcomes. This team has a strong engaging leadership and a workforce to support you in this new position. Our Emergency Physicians love this new model of care and are engaged throughout the entire patient experience.

Collaboration and willingness to work together as a team within each other's scope of practice is one reason our community hospitals have been so successful. This is a new and growing model, so adaptability is key as we work towards providing exceptional care to the Kansas City area.

Saint Luke's has a strong nurse governance and we encourage all of our nurses to participate and help us make Saint Luke's The Best Place To Get Care, The Best Place To Give Care. Our leaders support and encourage their nurses to take their careers to the next level and participate in various projects and initiatives that directly impact patient care and the organization.

Saint Luke's Community Hospitals are streamlined, state-of-the-art hospitals that provide emergency, inpatient, and diagnostic services in convenient neighborhood locations. Open 24/7, 365 days a year, each Community Hospital location is staffed with board certified emergency physicians and experienced registered nurses and staff.
