We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work in the research team of Drs. Van den Oord and Aberg at the Center for Biomarker Research and Precision Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University. The position focuses on lab-technical aspects of epigenomic and transcriptomic studies of psychiatric disorders using bulk and single-cell approaches. A key project involves a new collaborative effort with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York and the Karolinska Institute, Sweden to better understand autism spectrum disorder. However, the position also offer opportunities to work on schizophrenia and opioid use disorder and participate in downstream statistical/bioinformatics analyses.
Highly motivated candidates with experience in next-generation sequencing and interest in bulk/single-cell epigenomic/transcriptomic approaches are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates should be collaborative, have critical reasoning skills, and be eager to learn and develop new lab technical technologies.?
The successful candidate is expected to start in January 2022. The position appointment term is initially for 2 years. Salary will be determined based on applicant experience and in accordance with University guidelines for Postdoctoral Fellows.?
Required Qualifications:
? PhD in genetics, biology, molecular biology or related discipline.
? Productive record of research and publication.
? Excellent oral and written communication skills.
? Capable of working effectively with collaborators and independently.
