The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Sciences at
NC State invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track faculty
position in Coastal Environmental Toxicology/Eco-Physiology at the
rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants should have a
doctoral degree and relevant postdoctoral experience. We are
particularly interested in applicants conducting research that
utilizes innovative approaches to assess how environmental
contaminants, abiotic, and climatic factors impact marine or
estuarine animal ecology, physiology, or other aspects of animal
biology toward sustaining a biodiverse and productive coastal
ecosystem, as well as the health and well-being of communities that
rely on its resources. The candidate will be a member of the
Department of Biological Sciences and be located at NC State's
Center of Marine Sciences and Technology (CMAST) along the
beautiful Bogue Sound in Morehead City, NC. The hire
will be expected to develop and maintain an extramurally funded,
nationally recognized independent research program, and to support
the academic mission of the department including teaching and
student training. It is anticipated the candidate will bridge and
build upon existing strengths in aquatic animal and environmental
health, integrative physiology, marine sciences, seafood safety,
fisheries science, genetics/genomics, the Center for Human Health
and the Environment and/or other programs within the
department, CMAST and the University. Inclusiveness and diversity are critical to the success of the
College of Sciences and the University as a whole. The selected
candidate will be expected to actively contribute to a community
that is respectful, inclusive, and welcoming of all groups. We
encourage applications from candidates who identify as members of
groups that are underrepresented. Support will include a
competitive start-up package, laboratory space, and an interactive
research environment. NC State provides a vibrant environment for
research, teaching, and mentoring across disciplines. Rich
opportunities exist for collaborations with faculty
at CMAST and across our central campus. Our location in
the Research Triangle and along the coast facilitates interaction
with faculty at other institutions as well as with industry and
government agencies. The candidate will be expected to participate
in collaborative, multi-investigator research and training
initiatives that include NC State biologists, toxicologists,
environmental scientists, and others to maintain a high-impact
program in environmental biology. Perform other duties as
assigned. The Chronicle of Higher Education. Keywords: Assistant Professor, Location: Morehead City, NC - 28557
