The Department of Urban Studies and Planning and the Critical Gender Studies Program at UC San Diego invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor working in the area of climate justice to begin July 1, 2022.

The individual hired into this position will be appointed in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, with half of their teaching scheduled to meet the curricular needs of the Critical Gender Studies Program. They will have an active research program in issues of justice related to climate change mitigation and adaptation. They also will be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in planning, and undergraduate and graduate courses in critical gender studies, on transnational, intersectional, or other feminist research and/or theory.

QUALIFICATIONS Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
A scholar who holds the Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field, or who is near completion of such a Ph.D., with the degree anticipated within a year of the position start date. Demonstrated ability to teach courses in planning and in critical gender studies. The scholar has an active research program in climate justice.
Evidence of excellent teaching, and demonstrated commitment to department or program service.
Preferred qualifications
Preferred candidates will, through their scholarship and teaching, address climate and gender in intersection with race, sexuality, disability, Black/Asian-American/Latinx/Indigenous Studies, and/or decoloniality.
