Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) work under the direct supervision of RNs and support numerous fast-paced, high volume areas of the hospitals and practices within UPHS by delivering high quality care to patients and families through collaboration and communication with his/her team. Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following: taking, recording and monitoring vital signs; lifting, turning and feeding patients; providing O2 therapy and reporting acute changes in ventilation and circulation; promoting infection control and safety by maintaining a clean and safe work and patient environment; meeting patients personal hygiene needs and assisting with ADLs; and making beds.
HS Diploma or equivalent, graduate of a CNA program and CPR required. Must be a certified by the State of Pennsylvania as a CNA.
Our Medical ICU is a dynamic, collaborative unit that specializes in treating patients flown in from all over the world for our definitive treatments. As a top 10 U.S. News & World Report Hospital, ANCC Magnet organization, and an AACN Silver Beacon Unit, our mission is to provide the highest quality of care to the most highly acute, complex patient population on the East Coast. As an integral part of our interdisciplinary team, you will be collaborating with premier pulmonary and critical care specialists, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, nutrition support specialists, social services and our patients and families. Our patient population consists of pre and post liver and lung transplant, hematological and solid cancers, BMT, sepsis, and Targeted Temperature Management(TTM), as well as all medical ailments requiring world-class critical care interventions. Our cutting edge programs TTM, proning for severe ARDS, early goal directed protocols for sepsis, and the initiation of ECMO are just some of the exciting medical practices our nurses experience. This is a healthy and active work environment with a robust Nursing Shared Governance model and a unit council that emphasizes multidisciplinary teamwork and collaborative decision making.
