*Position Summary::*The University of Alabama School of Music is seeking an Instructor of Bassoon with a growing national reputation as a teacher and artist level performer. This is a renewable instructor appointment. Primary duties will be to recruit and teach students in applied bassoon at the undergraduate and graduate levels, teach bassoon methods, maintain a nationally recognized studio, and maintain activity as a performer at the regional/national level. Other teaching duties may be assigned based upon department need, such as courses in music appreciation.
*Ad Text::*QUALIFICATIONS: Successful recruiting and teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred. Documented performing experience at an artistic level with appropriate terminal degrees earned. (Master's Degree required, DMA preferred, although significant and documented teaching/ recruiting and performance experience will be considered in place of earned degrees.) The successful candidate will demonstrate a wide spectrum of success in the discipline of music.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: Letter of application, curriculum vitae, three (3) letters of recommendation, a list of five (5) additional references that may be contacted (including phone number and email address), and recording links containing examples of recent performances. The appointment will run from January 1, 2022 through May 15, 2022, with a possibility of extension after evidence of successful teaching and recruiting.
