*Position Summary::*The University of Alabama School of Music is seeking an Instructor of Bassoon with a growing national reputation as a teacher and artist level performer. This is a renewable instructor appointment. Primary duties will be to recruit and teach students in applied bassoon at the undergraduate and graduate levels, teach bassoon methods, maintain a nationally recognized studio, and maintain activity as a performer at the regional/national level. Other teaching duties may be assigned based upon department need, such as courses in music appreciation.
*Ad Text::*QUALIFICATIONS: Successful recruiting and teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred. Documented performing experience at an artistic level with appropriate terminal degrees earned. (Master's Degree required, DMA preferred, although significant and documented teaching/ recruiting and performance experience will be considered in place of earned degrees.) The successful candidate will demonstrate a wide spectrum of success in the discipline of music.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: Letter of application, curriculum vitae, three (3) letters of recommendation, a list of five (5) additional references that may be contacted (including phone number and email address), and recording links containing examples of recent performances. Additional materials may be requested at a later time. The appointment will run from January 1, 2022 through May 15, 2022, with a possibility of extension after evidence of successful teaching and recruiting.
