The Department of Surgery is recruiting for a trauma surgeon at the assistant professor level to work at Grady Memorial Hospital as well as conduct basic and translational science research in the area of trauma and acute care surgery. Experience should include board certification in general surgery and critical care medicine, a fellowship in trauma and/or critical care medicine. Research experience should include working in a basic or translational science lab as a physician scientist or participating in a lab as a research or fellow on funded research for greater than 2 years.
Clinical responsibilities include trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical critical care coverage at Grady Memorial Hospital's Marcus Trauma Center, an ACS verified Level I Trauma Center responsible for a population of 5,000,000 in northwest Georgia.

Additional responsibilities include supervision and teaching acute care surgery fellows, (currently 6 trauma/surgical critical care fellows in a two year program), Morehouse and Emory surgery residents, advanced practice providers and Medical/PA students. There are extraordinary opportunities for clinical, outcomes and translational research based on patient volumes, acuity, and external research funding within the Department. Candidates must be Board-eligible/certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. The ideal candidate will have completed a 2-year ACS fellowship, have a strong background and interest in research and/or have a MPH, MSc or similar degree. Preferred Qualifications:
• Board Certified Surgeon in General Surgery and Critical Care Medicine
• Post graduate training (fellow in trauma and acute care or critical care medicine)
• Research experience should include working in a basic or translational science lab as a physician scientist or participating in a lab as a research or fellow on funded research for greater than 2 years.
• A valid, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia
• A controlled Substance Registration Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate..."
