Site Name: USA - Massachusetts - Cambridge Posted Date: Oct 4 2021 GSK is seeking an Associate Director - Biophysics, Encoded Library Technologies to join our team at the Cambridge, MA Discovery Hub. This role will be accountable for delivering DNA Encoded Library selection optimization protocols as well as protein construct qualification and small molecule and protein interactions studies in support of the GSK discovery project portfolio (20+ projects per year). In addition to the project direct work, the role is accountable for all operational aspects of maintaining an effective biophysics infrastructure, active lifecycle management and exploration of new technologies. Key Responsibilities: Group leadership of Biophysics team Development of methods to optimize selection protocols for DNA encoded libraries, including molecular proximity and covalent strategies. Accountable for managing the prioritization, quality and communication of Protein Construct Assessment for incoming targets Accountable for managing the prioritization, quality and communication of small molecule : protein interaction studies in support of ELT projects Accountable for all operational aspects of maintaining an effective biophysics infrastructure, active lifecycle management and trouble shooting Primary Liaison with Biophysics functions at other GSK R&D hub sites Create documentation, training materials and communication templates for projects with respect to the accountabilities Contribute to research of new methodologies as they apply to Encoded Library Technology and contribute to strategic planning discussions outside of key accountabilities Represent GSK externally at conferences and through publication in peer reviewed Journals Recruit, retain and develop scientific talent Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: PhD or MS in life science with at least 8 years of drug discovery experience Experience developing assays with SPR, MST, switchSENSE or similar to characterize protein:protein or protein:small molecule interactions 2 years of experience leading teams to deliver binding assay data for early stage drug discovery projects Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Familiarity with DNA-encoded Libraries, Aptamer or other biological selection/panning techniques High throughput data analysis and interpretation skills Familiarity with small molecule or biological mass spectrometry Data analysis related programming in R or Python Why GSK?
