GSK's Immuno-Oncology & Combinations Research Unit (IOC RU) seeks a Sr. Scientist with experience in immuno-oncology or immunology to conduct research designed to identify and validate immune-based therapies for cancer. The successful candidate will focus on delivering critical path biology results to support GSK's growing pipeline of cancer immunotherapies. Must be able to work within a dynamic environment to deliver high-quality scientific data packages to meet aggressive/disciplined milestone objectives and contribute to the progression of pre-clinical programs from early discovery to FTIH commitment. These responsibilities include some of the following: Coordinates with Program Leaders/scientists to plan and execute experiments Works collaboratively on aspects of experiments to be performed by other members of the team Interprets results and designs next logical step of experiments based on interpretation of results Prepares detailed oral or written summaries of results with interpretation for projects/programs; independently writes specific technical sections of internal and external reports Assumes responsibility for posting data, tracking usage of reagents, maintaining updated electronic lab notebook records Assists in publishing, patenting or presenting data as needed Assists in general operation of the biology lab facility Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: BS/MS in immunology or related field with one or more years of experience preferably within immuno-oncology research and development. One or more years bioassay development experience relevant to the fields of immuno-oncology and/or immunology (e.g. ex vivo Patient TIL assays). One or more years research experience in the field of immune modulation of the tumor microenvironment. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Two or more years of experience in industry Experience with preclinical drug discovery Ability to independently execute experiments to meet program needs. Strong bioassay development expertise relevant to the fields of immuno-oncology and/or immunology (e.g. ex vivo Patient TIL assays). Research expertise in the field of immune modulation of the tumor microenvironment Ability to independently execute experiments to meet program needs. Experience evaluating biologics, small molecules and combinations to determine activating and/or regulatory pathways governing innate and adaptive immunity. Expertise in multi-parameter flow cytometry to measure cell surface & intracellular profiles. Experience measuring secreted cytokines/pro-inflammatory proteins by multi-plex assay. Strong commitment to data intergrity with accurate, detailed record keeping resulting in reproducible experimental records. Ability to work in matrix teams with scientific accountability. Commitment to continual improvement by reading and applying the latest scientific literature, methodologies and technology where appropriate. Experience with various data analyses software including Flow Jo, FACS Diva, Graphpad Prism & Spotfire. Why GSK?
