The role
The postholder will be responsible for setting up and conducting qualitative research projects as part of the Behavioural and qualitative science cross cutting methodology theme of the National Institute for Health Research Applied Research Collaboration West (NIHR ARC West) https://arc-w.nihr.ac.uk/ .
ARC West has four themes - Mental health, Public health and prevention, Integrated and optimal care and Healthier childhoods. The postholder will mainly support the work of the Public health and prevention theme.
The post will be based in the University of Bristol, at 100% FTE starting in December 2021 with funding available for 12 months. The appointed researcher will work on several research projects, supported and supervised by Professor Jeremy Horwood who co-leads ARC West's Behavioural and qualitative science methodological team.
What will you be doing?
The postholder will work across several qualitative projects, mainly supporting the priorities of ARC West's Public health and prevention research theme. This will involve conducting literature searches to develop research projects and using a range of qualitative data collection methods such as interviews and focus groups. The postholder will contribute to the Public and Community Involvement, Engagement and Participation (PCIEP) activities and strategies for projects. The postholder will also contribute to the implementation, or knowledge mobilisation, in collaboration with the ARC West research teams, service partners and researchers at partner universities.

You should apply if
- You have a strong background in qualitative methods applied to health services / public health research
- You have a higher degree in social sciences or a related discipline
- You have experience of publishing findings in international peer-reviewed journals
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skill, experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and an interest in implementation or knowledge mobilisation
