The [Art History Program](https://vapa.uccs.edu/index/art_history/welcome) within the [Department of Visual and Performing Arts](https://vapa.uccs.edu/) invites applications for a full-time, in-person instructor. We are seeking a dynamic instructor with expertise in Ancient, Medieval and/or Early Modern Art prior to 1700. Geographic area of expertise is open and we welcome a scholar who teaches from a broad global perspective. Curatorial experience and/or interest in museum studies is also desirable. * Teach a full load of 24 credit hours per year. This is typically 8 courses; 4 courses per semester. Workload is 95% teaching and 5% service.
* Teach a range of courses including foundational courses in the study of art history, survey courses in ancient through global early modern topics and upper-level electives in the area of specialization.
* Work with the Director of Art History to strengthen and define the program and curriculum.
* Work with students to develop their understanding of global art history and its interconnections and foundational role in the other arts.
* Potentially develop interdisciplinary departmental courses that overlap with and integrate the different programs within the Visual and Performing Arts Department.
This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).*What We Offer:**Salary Range:* Generally starting at $41,000 - $42,230. Qualifications
*Minimum Requirements:*
Master's Degree in Art History or related field2 years of experience teaching at the college levelExperience teaching, or expertise in the form of research focus and/or publishing, in art history in a global context prior to 1700 (geographic area of focus is open)*Preferred Requirements:*
PhD (or ABD) in art history or a related field; and candidates with equivalent professional experience.Expertise lending itself to enhancing global perspectives in art history and visual culture.Curatorial experience or interest in museum studies.Interest in developing courses that diversify the current curriculum by addressing historically marginalized and underrepresented cultures in art history.*Physical Requirements:*While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employee may occasionally be required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
