This position, the Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist / Clinical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist under minimal supervision, is responsible for independently performing complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues that includes standardized microscopic, chemical, and/or bacteriological testing. All the Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist / Clinical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist t esting is performed in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures, FDA, CAP, OSHA, CLIA, and Joint Commission regulations and guidelines. Test results are used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Baccalaureate degree in medical laboratory science, or related science

MT (ASCP) - Medical Technologist or MLS (ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Scientist, American Society of Clinical Pathology, Health and Human Services Certification. CM required if certified after 2004.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the specific discipline(s)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Extensive knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques of clinical laboratory science.

Working knowledge of recent laboratory developments, current literature, and sources of information in medical technology appropriate to the field of specialization.

Ability to perform assigned tasks according to procedures and to make accurate observations and records of test result.

Skilled in the use of medical laboratory equipment in the performance of required tests and examinations.
