Magenta Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing therapeutics to reset the immune system to cure more patients with devastating and life-threatening diseases. We are seeking a talented scientific strategist and experienced people leader to lead Pre-clinical Development. Reporting to the CSO, the Vice President of Preclinical Development will be an integral member of the Research Leadership Team and will be responsible for pre-clinical pharmacology and Toxicology for all Magenta programs focused on developing novel therapeutics to improve stem cell transplantation. You will have the opportunity to set strategy and play a key role in contributing to Magenta's corporate research goals. The VP Preclinical Development will be responsible for progressing programs from discovery through full clinical development.

You are perfect for this role if you are engaged by and want to be responsible for:
  • Leading in vivo pharmacology efforts and a highly efficient team. Facilitate collaboration with project and functional teams
  • Toxicology studies (non-GLP and GLP) across all phases of clinical development
  • Provide strategic and scientific leadership as part of cross-functional research teams
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert for the design, execution, and interpretation of pharmacology and toxicology experiments
  • Development of pharmacology data-packages and both non-GLP and GLP toxicology studies to support project advancement through clinical development
  • Communicating scientific data internally and externally, authoring/reviewing study reports and regulatory documentation, contributing to high impact scientific manuscripts, identifying & managing external research collaborations, and engaging with scientific advisors and consultants
  • Manage, guide, and mentor the in vivo pharmacology team, and oversee vivarium operations
  • Plan, resource and prioritize in-house and outsourced pharmacology activities
  • Provide support and guidance for in vivo work with several exciting external academic/industry collaborators and with CROs

We would be thrilled if you brought the following with you:
  • MS/PhD with 15+ years of industry experience in drug discovery and development setting
  • Demonstrated ability to advance programs from discovery through lead optimization and IND with small molecule, antibody or antibody drug conjugate molecules
  • Deep understanding of in vivo pharmacology and strong track record of driving research stage programs into the clinic
  • Board certification in Toxicology (DABT)
  • Experienced in delivering high quality non-clinical data packages for drug candidate selection of molecules for hematologic malignancies
  • Ability to work productively with, and influence, diverse project leads and work with cross functional project teams
  • Previous experience in leading a team of people managers is preferred
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong presentation skills, and demonstrated ability to manage by influence and problem solve in a highly matrixed organization
  • Prior success with research in a hands-on, highly collaborative growth environment the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in cultures where courage, commitment and excellence are the backbone of the leadership profile
