Job Summary

We are seeking a Research Scientist 2- Immunology for our Discovery site located in Morrisville, NC.

The individual in this position will perform as a scientist in the conduct of nonclinical biological research studies primarily in the area of cancer research. In this position you will be responsible for the design, execution and interpretation of experiments using quantification of relevant endpoints, both in vivo and in vitro. You will also apply additional analytical methods such as flow cytometry, multi-plex ELISA, and gene expression analysis to a variety of study designs to evaluate tumor biology and immune cell function.

The following are responsibilites related to the Research Scientist 2 - Immunology position:

  • Function independently as a study director in the direction and execution of assigned studies in compliance with regulations as they apply to the conduct of nonclinical research
  • Design, execute, analyze and interpret in vivo pharmacology studies evaluating tumor growth.
  • Represent company capabilities to sponsors and participate in study design
  • Generate high-quality protocols, amendments, and reports appropriate for assigned studies.
  • Provide technical and scientific guidance to the research staff. As needed instruct other staff in the practical aspects of study conduct
  • Influence strategic direction related to acquisition of new technologies and related sciences


Job Qualifications

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Research Scientist 2 - Immunology position:
Education: Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent in a life sciences-related field. Related Master's degree (M.S./M.A.) or PhD/DVM in Microbiology preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years related experience in the contract research, academic, or pharmaceutical industry. 3 years experience of conducting immunology studies using flow cytometry, gene expression, protein/cytokine analysis (Luminex) and other related techniques.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Other: Preference will be given to candidates with strengths in immunology and oncology. Understanding of regulatory requirements of study types assigned, as well as Testing Facility SOPs and the Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), as appropriate. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines. Proficiency in the use of standard software including Microsoft® Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc. and with standard laboratory calculations.
