The Department of Biological Sciences at the George Washington
University (GWU) invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty
position in Neurogenetics at the rank of Assistant Professor, to
begin in Fall 2022. Our department's research interests focus
primarily on non-mammalian systems, and our location in Washington,
DC offers superior undergraduate and graduate learning
opportunities through access to the National Institutes of Health,
Janelia Research Campus, and a consortium of DC-area
universities.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and
maintain an externally funded research program at the intersection
of experimental neurobiology and genetics that integrates
undergraduate and graduate students, and strengthens our
multidisciplinary teaching program which includes a recently
launched neuroscience major. The teaching expectations include a
genetics course with a laboratory component. We particularly
welcome candidates from groups that are historically
underrepresented in biology and/or have demonstrated leadership
toward building an equitable and inclusive scholarly environment.
Office, and laboratory space will be located in the GWU Science and
Engineering Hall that opened in January 2015 (https://www.gwu.edu/research-resources#Discovery),and
offers state of the art imaging and nanofabrication facilities.
A completed PhD in an appropriate discipline and a minimum of
two years of postdoctoral training in Neurogenetics or an
appropriate discipline as well as research accomplishments, as
demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in high quality
journals.
