The Regenerative Biomaterials and Therapeutics Group (PI: Adam Feinberg) in the Biomedical Engineering Department is seeking a Postdoctoral Research associate to work on independent experimentation and/or directed research to achieve better understanding on cell engraftment into tight-junctioning epithelial cells. This position requires and in-depth knowledge of pseudo-stratified epithelial cell layers, particularly related to the lung. Tasks in this position may include organizing, implementing, and analyzing data collected from, experiments involving live human cells, explanted animal tissue, and in vivo live animal studies. It may also include development of research methodology and animal protocols as well as writing reports which contain descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content.

Core responsibilities include:

* Conducting research experiments, using air-liquid interface cultures and explanted tissues, predetermined by the PI

* Gathering and analyzing data and images from microscopes

* Periodical/literature searches to support the analysis

* Manuscript preparation for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations

* Lab maintenance including equipment troubleshooting and ordering required supplies

* Working with undergraduate and graduate students, providing mentorship and research guidance

Qualifications:

* Doctorate Degree in either Biomedical Engineering or Biology with strong academic performance

Highly Desired work experience:

* Mammalian (preferably human and stem cell) Cell Culture including experience with air-liquid interface culture strongly desired

* Tissue explanting and ex vivo culturing of tissue explants

* Microscopy including fluorescent confocal microscopy (experience with both Zeiss and Nikon microscopes preferred)

* Microfabrication Skill Including Microcontact Printing

* Hands-on in vivo animal experiment experience (preferably mouse, and previous experience in writing IACUC protocols)

* Statistical Analysis Skills

* Management Skills for Biological Laboratories
