STRUCTURAL HEART BUSINESS MISSION: WHY WE EXIST

Our Structural Heart business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease. We aim to lead the markets we serve by requiring the solutions we offer customers provide an improved benefit/risk profile as compared to existing standards of care; a performance threshold that by definition, guides and ensures the productive output of our engineering, business development, and clinical research efforts result in outcomes that advance the standard of care.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Physician and Medical Science Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders and external key opinion leaders, clinical partners and medical societies to help develop and implement the strategy to advance understanding of the burden of structural heart disease and opportunities to improve patient care. This individual will have well-developed skills in project management, communications and follow-up with a take-charge spirit to proactively engage with external customers and internal stakeholders. This person must be extremely detail-oriented, comfortable juggling multiple changing priorities, committed to managing multiple stakeholders, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

This position is responsible for:
  • Developing and cultivating working relationships with key medical and professional organizations and serving as company lead for key conferences and on high profile new therapy development projects for structural heart disease
  • Own the global key opinion leader (KOL) engagement plan and maintain strong relationships with KOLs to expand our understanding of treatment and referral pathways, barriers in the treatment of structural heart disease
  • Lead KOL scientific advisory boards planning and execution to understand evolving medical needs and identify knowledge gaps & opportunities for collaboration and scientific exchange
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including marketing, clinical science, health economics and outcomes research, training and education, corporate strategy and government affairs to drive cross-functional alignment and provide leadership on key structural heart projects and initiatives
  • Provide input into the development of an effective clinical evidence communications plan
  • Provide support for each business unit's scientific abstracts, manuscripts, investigator-initiated study protocols, patient advocacy grant requests, and scientific educational grant requests as needed
  • Attend key meetings and congresses, monitor published literature, and provide competitive intelligence insights on disease state and products
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, regulatory, and key cross-functional business partners, performing all responsibilities in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements as well as industry guidelines

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
  • An advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) is preferred
  • 5+ years of broad Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs, Clinical Research, or Clinical Marketing experience within the pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry preferred
  • Therapeutic knowledge and experience in cardiology and structural heart disease
  • Demonstrated ability cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with industry leaders / KOLs / professional societies
  • Experience with real-world evidence generation and research collaborations
  • Medical communications and publication evidence management experience.
  • Self-starter, able to manage & drive own projects over a multi-year timeframe
