The School of Psychology at the University of Southampton is seeking to make appointments to support education in the Post Graduate Low Intensity Programmes, with specific focus on the Education Mental Health Practitioner programme.

This post is offered on a part-time (21 hours per week, 0.6FT) basis, fixed term for 24 months. The set working pattern will require working Thursdays and Fridays but the 3rd day is flexible.

We welcome applications from education psychologists / clinical psychologists / CBT therapists with experience in any of the following areas: Children and young people's Mental Health, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Educational Psychology, Primary and Secondary School Education.

You will be part of an innovative and dynamic post graduate clinical team and will contribute to postgraduate teaching and supervision.

The Post-Graduate Low Intensity Programmes at the University of Southampton are clinically focused courses, teaching the basis of clinical work, alongside an NHS working environment. Whilst the Education Mental Health Practitioner Course is recently established, we are committed to the scientist-practitioner model, which is firmly rooted in the core values of the NHS Constitution. The University of Southampton has over 30 years' experience in clinical training in partnership with our local NHS Trusts and related organisations. This role is offered on an education-led pathway. Clinical or educational psychologists/CBT therapists with expertise in teaching clinical skills and the aspiration to develop their research can apply to work on an education pathway.

Our School has expertise in developmental and applied psychopathology, psychological interventions across the lifespan and affective neuroscience. The School of Psychology at Southampton is recognised for producing world-leading, high-impact research, supported by excellent research facilities (REF2014). These include purpose-built laboratories for neuropsychological/cognitive testing, social interaction and behavioural observation, therapeutic intervention, child/family studies, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), neurostimulation (TMS/tDCS), psychophysiology, eye-tracking, virtual reality, and psychopharmacology.

Our School is one of the largest providers of postgraduate research and clinical training in the UK, offering a range of MSc programmes (Clinical, Health, Research Methods), research doctorates (PhD), Doctoral Programmes in Clinical Psychology (DClin) and Educational Psychology (DEdPsy), and training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

We enjoy long-standing collaborations with University research groups in Medicine (Psychiatry, Primary Care), Biological Sciences (Neuroscience), Health Sciences and Education. The Institute for Life Sciences supports further cross-disciplinary collaboration.
