The role

The BRI Hub is based in the Bristol Royal Infirmary and is part of the Bristol Trials Centre. The BRI Hub seeking a Database Systems Developer to join our thriving multi-disciplinary team of over 60 staff, including development team of 5. This hub undertakes studies in cardiac surgery, cardiovascular medicine, obesity surgery, thoracic surgery and ophthalmology.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone passionate about clinical research and with experience of software development or clinical trial database management.

What will you be doing?

As the post holder you will be involved in all elements of Clinical Trial systems including gathering requirements, development, project management and support.

Typical tasks would include:
  • Developing complex software solutions (ASP.NET and SQL) to satisfy a wide range of user requirements.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to resolve issues raised in legacy systems.
  • Collecting, analysing and documenting requirements for system development.
  • Creating project plans for own projects and reporting progress.
  • Authoring and reviewing technical documentation and user guides for locally developed information systems.
  • Meeting with external clients to gather system requirements and reporting project progress.
  • Mentoring and training Assistant Database Managers.


You should apply if

You have good software development experience or experience of Clinical Trial database management.
  • Analysis and problem solving capability
  • Attention to detail and good self organisation skills
