The College of Business and Administration at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of Lecturers in Cybersecurity from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester.

This position will teach cybersecurity classes for the Colorado Cybersecurity Apprenticeship (C-CAP) program.

Examples of courses include the following:
  • Managing Network Interconnections
  • Cybersecurity Technologies
  • IT Risk Management
  • Cloud Computing and Security
  • Ethical Hacking
  • IT Security Auditing and Organizational Cybersecurity.

We are also looking for Lecturers to provide training on industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications through bootcamps. This position will teach cybersecurity bootcamp classes.

Examples of bootcamp classes include the following:
  • Cyber Security Analyst (CySA)
  • Certified in Risk and Information System Control (CRISC)
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GIAC-CIH)
  • GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GIAC-CIA)
  • Associate Risk Management Professional (ARMP)
  • Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK).

Classes may be on-campus, online, or hybrid.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

What We Offer:

Salary Range:

For classes capped at 100 students: $3,500 - $10,000 per 3-credit hour course. Pay rate is dependent upon actual student enrollment and the qualifications held by the lecturer.

For classes capped at 30 students: $3,000 - $5,000 per 3-credit hour course. Pay rate is dependent upon (a) the number of courses taught, (b) the type of courses taught (e.g. undergraduate, graduate), and (c) the education level held by the lecturer.

These positions are dependent on the availability of auxiliary revenues funding.

Temporary Lecturer appointments are not eligible for group health and life insurance benefits or vacation leave accrual. This position is eligible for paid sick leave. Information on benefits, including eligibility, is located at: http://www.cu.edu/employee-services.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Completed Master's degree in information security, information systems, information technology, computer science or a closely related field.
  • 18-credits of graduate course work in cybersecurity or information security
  • At least one year of practice experience in cybersecurity or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Completed doctorate degree (Ph.D.) from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Prior teaching experience in one of the specific courses or bootcamp classes listed.
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • Relevant industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications.

Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move.
  • Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
