Applicants should be prepared to teach undergraduates:
Minimum Qualifications: The University of San Francisco is seeking a seasoned photojournalism practitioner: one with at least five years of recent publication experience who is prepared to teach undergraduate journalism students with a wide range of interests and skill levels. Recent experience in multimedia reporting, writing and photojournalism for various formats would be particularly attractive. A minimum of a master's degree in journalism or a related field must be completed by August 2021. The program expects to see evidence of the candidate's engagement in diversity and inclusion through their journalism, teaching and professional service. Experience teaching at the university level and an understanding of and commitment to support social justice and the mission of the University of San Francisco are required.
Application materials should be submitted electronically as separate PDF documents to mooret@usfca.edu. Applicants should submit a cover letter summarizing interests, teaching philosophy and qualifications and a resume outlining recent professional photojournalism and teaching experience.

- what distinguishes photojournalism from other forms of visual presentation
- the ethics and laws of photojournalism
- how to take and edit photos on a DSLR and on a smartphone
- how to use Lightroom or Photoshop
- how to set up an archive and portfolio of one's own work
- how to shoot images that tell stories and support reporting in other media (words, audio)
- how to caption and write companion copy for photojournalism projects
- how to use photo archives in journalism projects
- visual literacy in photojournalism
