Position PLEASE NOTE Ohlone College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for temporary part-time teaching assignments. These positions are filled on an as-needed basis and are on-going recruitments. Assignments may include day, evening and weekend courses and may be in-person, online or hybrid. As staffing needs arise, our Division Deans will review the part-time faculty pools and contact applicants for interviews. There are times that part-time faculty are needed to fill last minute vacancies; therefore, departments are better able to communicate their teaching needs at the time of interviews. Applicants must meet the minimum academic requirements listed in order to be considered for the pool of qualified candidates. Applicants that meet the minimum requirements are not automatically accepted to teach at Ohlone. As this application is for a pool of applicants, it may take time before you are contacted. This is a part-time, faculty teaching position reporting to the Dean of Business and Technology. Ability to teach the following part-time assignments that may be available in the Computer Studies Department: Object-Oriented Programming Using C++, Java, JavaScript ECMAScript), Python, Ruby, PHP , and other modern programming languages; related web technologies such as cloud programming, CSS3, and HTML ; virtualization using software such as VMWare, QEMU , and/or VirtualBox; introduction to database concepts and software such as MySQL.

Duties and Responsibilities Duties for this position include the standard instructional responsibilities for one or more classes in the Computer Studies Department: teaching, grading, meeting with students (formal office hours are not required), class roster management and timely submission of grades.

Desirable Qualifications Teaching experience at the community college level desired but not required.

Minimum Qualifications Master's in computer science or computer engineering OR bachelor's in either of the above AND master's in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering OR bachelor's in engineering AND master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR bachelor's in mathematics AND mater's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR bachelor's degree in any of the above AND master's degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems OR the equivalent. ( NOTE : Courses in the use of computer programs for application to a particular discipline may be classified, for the minimum qualification purposes, under the discipline of the application.)
