Summary: The Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the general nursing activities in the Cardiac Cath Lab and providing quality patient care. Under general supervision, the Cath Lab RN assists with all diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cath and specials labs as monitor or circulator, provides individual nursing care, administers medication, starts IV's, operates equipment as needed, prepares patients for examination, documents appropriate information, interacts with patients and physicians, assists with orientation/education of all new Cath Lab employees, assists with maintenance of staff competency checks and scheduling of in-services, assists with performance improvement, performs related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities: • Delivers direct patient care according to established standards. • Interprets pertinent diagnostic test results and initiates appropriate actions as needed. • Utilization of hemodynamic monitoring equipment • Identifies and reports abnormal lab values.

Medical City North Hills is an award-winning 164-bed acute care hospital located in the heart of northeast Tarrant County in North Richland Hills. The hospital has over 300 physicians and 30 medical specialties. The ER has about 39,000 visits each year and is a Level III Trauma Center. Additionally, we are a Primary Stroke Center, perform spine surgery and joint replacements and have a comprehensive cardiovascular services department. Our hospital is an accredited Cycle 5 Chest Pain Center with a cardiac rehabilitation program.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of a School of Nursing

Experience:

Minimum 1 year ICU, CCU or Cardiac Cath Lab experience

Current knowledge of ECG monitoring

Licensure / Certification:

CPR and ACLS certifications from American Heart or American Red Cross

I.A.B.P. experience preferred

Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted; Texas State RN license required 30 days after hire.
