Overview:
The Assistant Preclinical Dean is responsible for the Department of Basic Sciences, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Anatomy, and Primary Care. The Assistant Preclinical Dean supervises the preclinical academic program delivered on-site and the faculty who are responsible for teaching it. This person reports to the Campus Dean.

Responsibilities:
Develop and deploy the curriculum for the first two years of the Osteopathic College's education.Interact as a liaison between the faculty and administration.Oversee the four preclinical departments (basic science, osteopathic manipulative medicine, anatomy, and primary care), the institutional research video production, and information technology departments.Expand the faculty development workshops and programs to include objective methods of evaluations.Review each faculty bi-yearly.Planning and organization (degree to which teaching is planned, efficiently organized, and provides learning experiences which are based upon needs, interests, and abilities of the student):Establish objectives for instructional activities.Makes provisions for learning styles (concrete, abstract, auditory, experiential, kinesthetic, tactile, verbal, and visual).Establishes objectives with regard to curriculum text, shelf, and professional exams.Establishes a routine for daily planning and evaluation of studentsFulfill committee assignments as assigned by the Campus Dean.Participate in interviews process as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Students Affairs.Satisfactory completion of faculty development as measured by the Campus Dean to include:Academics (as measured by peer review).Instruction (as measured by student evaluations).Research activities (as measured by the Dean of Research).Participate in student advising and provide guidance to the students of TouroCOM-Montana.Oversee the budget of the adjunct faculty and ensure that spending is within agreed budget.Act as a mentor to the students and junior faculty here at TouroCOM-Montana.Assume other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:
DegreesDoctorate DegreeThe Assistant Preclinical Dean must hold a doctoral degree in a related field.ExperienceThe Assistant Preclinical Dean is to have a minimum of five years experience in academic medicine or the equivalent thereof as deemed acceptable by the President of Touro.This person will have demonstrable expertise in the planning, delivery, and assessment of the preclinical component of a medical school curriculum and be familiar with Flipped Classroom methodology.This person will have experience managing the financial, physical, and human resources needed during the preclinical years of a medical education.Physical DemandsAble to lift up to 5 lbs.
