The role

The School of Psychological Science at the University of Bristol is seeking to appoint two outstanding new Lecturers with research expertise that builds on the school's existing strengths and creates opportunities to work with other parts of the University.

These appointments will be on the University's Academic Pathway 1, combining research and teaching duties. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an active research programme and lead and deliver inspiring teaching across our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. The post-holders will be expected to make a positive contribution to our collegiate academic community and carry out some academic administration to contribute to the running of the school.

What will you be doing?

Research

A successful applicant will have a proven research record and experience of working in a research environment. The post-holders will be expected to have published academic work of the highest quality and show the potential to secure external grant income to support their research. They will also be expected to make a positive contribution to the general research culture of the School and the wider University to maximise the impact of their research with external stakeholders and to conduct public engagement activities.

Teaching

The successful applicants will be required to engage in teaching across all our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. Teaching duties will include tutorials for undergraduate students, project supervision, and delivery of taught content and seminar sessions on individual units.

Administration and leadership

The successful applicants will be allocated general academic administrative responsibilities as specified by the Head of School.

We expect one of the two appointments to be in Human Cognitive Neuroscience. For the other post, we welcome applicants from all areas of Psychology, but we would particularly like to see applicants with expertise in Social Psychology. Applicants are also encouraged who can develop links with the School of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience, School of Social and Community Medicine or with colleagues in engineering related disciplines (e.g. Robotics; Vision Sciences; HCI).
