The School of Informatics, Computing, and Cyber Systems invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice position to help lead a new online personalized learning Master of Science in Computer Science for Chinese learners. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively in both English and Mandarin Chinese. The candidate is expected to begin duties January 3, 2022. Candidates with broad backgrounds in computer science will be considered, with preference for candidates holding a doctorate and/or with extensive applied software engineering or computer engineering experience. Regular in-person attendance at key trainings and meetings at the NAU Flagstaff campus are required.

Teaching assignments for this position will be focused on supporting an online personalized learning Master of Science degree in Computer Science. Based on program needs, additional teaching duties may include lower- and upper-division online undergraduate classes in Computer Science. Student mentoring and advising, participation in department-level service, and course and program level assessment activities for accreditation will also be required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • an earned Bachelor's degree AND
  • an earned Master's OR Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity or a closely-related field, conferred by the start date of employment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Mandarin
