The Institute of Human Origins (IHO) at Arizona State University is recruiting one Postdoctoral Research Scholar in early hominin paleobiology under the supervision of Dr. Yohannes Haile-Selassie. The postdoctoral research scholar will be contributing to a project on early hominin cranial anatomy, with particular emphasis on early Australopithecus, using micro-CT scan data.

The ideal candidate for this position should have a demonstrated background in evolutionary biology, experience with microCT imaging, processing, and segmentation. Experience with software packages such as Avizo/Amira, ImageJ, and R is also required.

Desired qualifications include good knowledge of current methods in geometric morphometrics and finite element modeling.

This is a full-time, term-limited 1-year position, which may be renewable for a second year, contingent on funding and satisfactory performance. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2022.

The qualified candidate must hold a PhD degree in anthropology, biology, geology or a related field, or have completed all of the requirements for a PhD by the time of appointment.

The fiscal year (12-month) salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 along with competitive benefits through ASU including health insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays. The postdoctoral research scholar must be in residence in the greater-Phoenix metropolitan area during the appointment.
