Your work will have real-world impact, and you'll be supported in achieving your career goals. Location/Division Specific Information: Our Austin TX (South Austin) manufacturing operation is growing. We are rapidly growing our team, facilities, and capabilities in high throughput manufacturing of CE-IVD products and synthetic chemistry. How you will make an impact? We seek a synthetic organic chemist for our manufacturing sciences team with the ability to synthesize compounds and provide solutions to existing chemical manufacturing problems through structured problem solving and process development. Potential candidate will have a proven knowledge of modern separation methodologies and spectroscopic identification techniques. Strong time management and organization skills, along with interpersonal skills and the ability to participate effectively in multidisciplinary teams to tackle problems in manufacturing environment. What will you do? * Plan and validate the transfer of products to Manufacturing, including scale-up of manufacturing scale and the optimization of manufacturing processes. * Work closely with the Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance to solve manufacturing problems. * Validate changes in materials and equipment. * Assess and improve manufacturing processes and test methods utilizing statistical methods. How will you get here? Education/Experience: * M.S. or equivalent in biochemistry or chemistry, engineering, or related subject area required, plus 5-7 years of manufacturing experience; or * Ph.D. or equivalent degree in chemistry or biochemistry, engineering, or related field, plus 2-5 years of manufacturing experience. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: * Domain expertise in organic chemistry with preference given for experience in or near to the area of nucleotide synthesis. * Extensive hands-on experience with FTIR, HPLC and LCMS. * Experience in the use of statistics to interpret manufacturing performance and communicate results to colleagues and supervisors. * Excellent English technical writing skills for creation of documents required to articulate ideas, propose and plan new projects, and prepare technical documents. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/FACTORS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: * Gown aseptically and/or sterile gown as needed. * Write, read/review written documentation for extended periods of time. Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
