Job Description Teaching (40%): * Teach applied voice lessons (undergraduate and graduate) and related courses as assigned (in-person or virtual). * Maintain a strong voice studio. * Supervise/mentor teaching assistant(s). Research/Creative Work (40%): * Establish a research/creative agenda pursuant of artistic growth and an expanding reputation of excellence. * Perform with other faculty as a member of the Kansas Virtuosi. * Participate actively in the cultural and intellectual life of the School and the University. Service (20%) * Work cooperatively in support of the School of Music and the University. * Serves on graduate and faculty committees. * Coordinate administrative functions within the Voice/Opera Area. * Work individually and collaboratively in recruiting music performance, music education, and music therapy students. Required Qualifications Rank of Assistant Professor * Doctoral degree in music; ABD candidates will be considered if degree will be completed by August 17, 2022; or a Master's degree in music with significant professional experience as a vocal performer. * Demonstrated record of productive teaching excellence at the collegiate or equivalent level. * Documented administrative skills as an organizer, communicator, and leader. * Professional experience as a vocal performer. For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure, the candidate must meet or exceed KU School of Music's standards for research, teaching and service at that rank.
