Franklin Pierce University is excited to announce an opening for an Associate Program Director of Nursing Education Programs at our Goodyear, AZ campus.

About the Goodyear, Arizona Community:The Franklin Pierce University Nursing Education programs will be located in Goodyear, Arizona, which is 20 minutes from downtown Phoenix. Goodyear has over 300+ days of sunshine and a diverse blend of amenities and abundant cultural, educational and entertainment resources. It is less than an hour to the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. It is a rapidly growing suburb that has grown from 18,000 in 2000 to 85,000 people. The community is surrounded by golf course, lakes, parks and scenic mountains. The city hosts the Spring Training and the player development for Major League's Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds in the Cactus League. The current FPU facilities house the Doctor of Physical Therapy and Master of Physician Assistant Studies programs and is located in the City of Goodyear municipal complex. The Nursing education programs will be located in extended space in the current location. The location will assist with interprofessional interaction and education.

Job Summary:Franklin Pierce University is excited to announce an opening for an Associate Program Director of Nursing Education Programs at our Goodyear, AZ campus.

The Associate Program Director is responsible for the overall planning, direction, and management of the Nursing Education Programs. The Associate Program Director will serve as the Programs' strategic, academic, and operational leader by guiding the faculty in program development, accreditation self-study, curriculum, administration, teaching, research and service. The Associate Program Director will serve as an advocate for the programs within the medical, academic and local health communities. In addition to being knowledgeable about the profession, the successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be responsive to personnel issues and have experience with problem solving.

This 12-month full-time position will be responsible for the development of the Nursing Education programs and successful acquisition of AZ Board of Nursing and ACEN accreditation status. Teaching, scholarship responsibilities and service responsibilities will comprise the remainder of the position duties. The Associate Program Director will receive sufficient release time and financial resources to support maintenance of certification and licensure and continuing professional development specific to Nursing Education. The Associate Program Director will report directly to the Dean of the College of Health & Natural Sciences and the Director of the School of Nursing.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Securing accreditation and maintaining compliance with the Arizona Board of Nursing and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN);
  • Managing and maintaining all AZ Nursing Education programs budgets and resources;
  • Directing all operations and strategic planning for the AZ Nursing Education programs;
  • Leading curriculum development and development of clinical sites;
  • Overseeing the recruitment and management of AZ Nursing Education programs faculty and staff;
  • Supervising the principal and instructional faculty, and staff in all activities that directly relate to the AZ Nursing Education programs;
  • Directing the admission process for students and closely collaborating with the Office of Admissions on admissions policies, recruitment of students, and marketing of the AZ Nursing Education programs;
  • Overseeing student advisement and remediation;
  • Preparing reporting and program outcome information as needed;
  • Representing the AZ Nursing Education programs for the University;
  • Providing effective leadership and management of the AZ Nursing Education programs;
  • Assuming responsibility of program organization, administration, fiscal management, ongoing self-assessment and analysis, planning, development and participation in the accreditation process.
Teaching Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum development and revision;
  • Assessment development;
  • Assessment/mapping and revision;
  • Classroom and laboratory instruction;
  • Academic and professionalism advising;
  • Remedial instruction;
  • Student recruitment and retention;
  • Inter-professional education;
  • Ongoing program self-assessment.
Skills and Qualifications:You will possess, or be able to demonstrate:
  • Highly developed interpersonal and strong leadership skills,
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbally,
  • Excellent organization, time management and self-motivation skills,
  • Technology literacy and budget development skills,
  • Three (3) years of full-time higher education experience,
  • Three (3) years of clinical practice experience as a registered nurse, providing direct patient care,
  • A Master's degree in Nursing,
  • An understanding of nursing education and ACEN accreditation Standards,
  • Arizona nursing license (or other state license and eligible for AZ license),
  • Ability to work successfully with a broad range of constituents and diverse populations,
  • Ability to travel for the University, if required.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Doctoral degree relevant to graduate nursing education (DNP, DHSc, EdD, PhD, etc.);
  • Previous ACEN accreditation experience is highly desirable;
  • Previous experience in Nursing Education leadership such as Assistant/Associate Program Director, Clinical Director or other director-level role;
  • Publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
