Title: Research Associate

Type: 6-Month Contract with Conversion Possibilities

About:

An up and coming genetic medicines company developing disease-modifying medicines for patients with life-limiting respiratory diseases is seeking a research associate to work within their aerosol/Nano-lipid department. They realize that this is a very niche area, thus are willing to consider candidates with solid biochemistry experience even if they lack aerosol therapeutic experience. This candidate will be help creating treatments that address the underlying genetic cause in underserved populations and have the potential to tremendously impact the quality and length of patients' lives. The team is uniquely positioned to tackle this challenge, given their extensive experience in RNA delivery technologies, protein structure, tRNA biology, mRNA manufacturing, gene editing, and drug development.



Primary responsibilities:
  • Conduct research using different inhalation devices including nebulizers
  • Conduct research utilizing aerosol characterization instrumentation including cascade impactors and laser diffraction
  • Conduct quality control assessments
  • Coordination with fellow researchers both to plan delivery and formulation requirements on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Documentation and upkeep of formulation inventory
  • Contribute to lab management activities
  • Communicate regularly with team members regarding project progress


Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with common laboratory equipment (pipettes, balances, pH meter, etc.)
  • Ability to perform basic lab calculations (dilutions, molarity, preparing buffers, etc.)
  • Experience with common lab practices and safety
  • Demonstrated ability and passion for working in a fast paced, multidisciplinary small team environment and managing multiple activities in parallel
  • Ability to quickly learn a variety of lab techniques


Education:
  • BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, bioengineering or a related field with 1+ year of industry experience preferred
