We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong background in assay development to join the HIV Discovery Virology group. The selected candidate will support laboratory-based research activities aimed at the discovery and development of novel experimental agents for HIV treatment, prevention, and cure. The candidate will be expected to design and perform experiments that support established or exploratory research programs in the group, using a variety of molecular, biochemical, immunological, and antiviral assay techniques. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional and highly collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently design, perform, analyze and interpret experimental data to help advance the discovery and development of HIV therapeutics
  • Regularly document detailed protocols and results in electronic notebook entries
  • Collaborate effectively within Virology and cross-functional teams to advance project needs
  • Present scientific findings in group meetings and project team meetings
  • Contribute to internal and external presentations, posters, and manuscripts


Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
  • BS or MS in biology, virology, immunology, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology or a related scientific discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years (BS) or 4 years (MS) of relevant work experience preferably in a biotech/ pharmaceutical/ healthcare industry; title to be adjusted commensurate with experience
  • Experience in cell-based assay development, ability to evaluate quality of the data, recognize anomalous results and interpret experimental outcomes is essential
  • Hands-on experience in antiviral assays, primary cell isolation, immune cell functional assays, flow cytometry, immunoassays, molecular biology techniques, and automation is highly desired
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous record keeping
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to learn new skills and work flexibly in a dynamic and collaborative environment
  • MUST be comfortable working in a BSL2+ lab
