The George Mason University Department of Health Administration within the College of Health and Human Services, is launching an open-rank search for a term (non-tenure track) instructional faculty in health care management. The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Human resources management
  • Marketing and/or strategic planning
  • Healthcare finance/accounting
  • Aging services

About the Department:The Department of Health Administration and Policy has educated students and conducted research in health systems management, health policy and health informatics since 2010. Today, graduate programs in these areas seek to prepare new leaders to apply management and evidence-based decision making to improve public health and the quality of health care. About the Position:
Strong candidates with expertise in other areas in health administration will be considered. This is a state-funded, full-time (9-month) instructional (non-tenure-track) faculty position with the option of additional summer teaching opportunities. The appointment will begin in August for Academic Year 2022-2023.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach courses related to Health Administration across the undergraduate and graduate curriculum;
  • Serve as a member of the undergraduate and graduate program faculty wherein faculty work to ensure curriculum currency, participate in program evaluation, support academic and professional advising (students and alumni) and program accreditation management;
  • Participate in student and faculty recruitment and academic program outreach activities; and
  • Serve on Department, CHHS and University level faculty committees and working groups.

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned Doctoral Degree in health administration, business administration, aging services or other fields related to the expertise sought;
  • Academic teaching experience; and
  • Strong interpersonal communication and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with hybrid and online teaching and mentoring graduate students in a healthcare management;
  • Specialty certification(s) in a practice area related to the areas of expertise sought;
  • Highly qualified candidates will have a working knowledge of AUPHA certification and CAHME accreditation for healthcare management academic programs; and
  • Because the HAP department's faculty members include scholars from multiple academic and professional disciplines, we are especially interested in applicants with a background and commitment to interdisciplinary, collaborative teaching and research.

About the College:
The College of Health and Human Services is located in the Peterson Family Health Science Hall, which has 165,000 square feet of offices, conference rooms, classrooms, and wet and dry labs. The College has accredited degree programs in Global and Community Health, Health Administration and Policy, Nutrition and Food Studies, Nursing, and Social Work, including CEPH accredited bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees. The College's research infrastructure includes DSHI (Discovery Science and Health Informatics Center with a Machine Learning Lab), imaging resources (DEXA, fMRI, movement capture), as well as physical and metabolic human assessment tools. The College operates a Population Health Center that supports primary and behavioral health care, research, and training. The College has an active research portfolio of approximately $9 million and is transitioning to become the first CEPH accredited College of Public Health in Virginia.
