Description:
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Gregory B. Lesinski to conduct highly translational cancer immunotherapy research. The overall goal of the Lesinski Laboratory is to better understand interactions between tumors and the immune system and to identify actionable targets that can be leveraged and translated into early phase clinical trials for patients. The group is currently recruiting a post-doctoral researcher who has a passion for cancer immunology and in making a difference in the course of disease for patients with aggressive tumors including pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma or others.The successful applicant would be immersed in an environment that features close, collaborative interactions between physician scientists and laboratory researchers as part of a robust program of Translational Gastrointestinal Oncology Research within the NCI-designated Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. There would be opportunity to master state of the art analytical technologies on human clinical trial samples, in vivo models and collaborative multi-disciplinary research. Major areas of research focus will be on immunotherapy and targeting interactions between tumor stroma and the immune system. Motivated applicants would be provided with mentorship and guidance for their own career development and will be expected to integrate in a collaborative manner with other team members to conduct multi-disciplinary research.Qualified applicants will have completed a PhD in immunology, cancer biology, genetics or related fields. Preference will be given to individuals with technical experience in cytometry approaches (flow cytometry, mass cytometry), murine models of cancer, immunohistochemistry, and cell culture, as well as those with experience in effectively communicating at the interface of laboratory and clinical medicine. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
