The Department of Neuroscience at West Virginia University, an R1 institution, is undergoing multi-year faculty recruitment and plans to hire one or more tenure track neuroscientists (all ranks). The campus-wide Neuroscience Signature Program, under the umbrella of the interdisciplinary Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI; https://wvumedicine.org/rni/) is undergoing major growth. We are seeking individuals conducting state-of-the-art neuroscience research who have demonstrated an exceptional record of research accomplishment in fundamental neuroscience and who can also excel in our education mission. We are especially interested in individuals whose research interests build on current or emerging strengths in mammalian animal models of stroke or Alzheimer disease, but individuals will also be considered who are conducting translational animal model research in addiction or neural circuits/epilepsy. Modern research facilities and cores are available to support investigators' pursuits.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in neuroscience or a closely related field and at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience with a strong record of scholarly activity. Candidates for appointments as Assistant Professors must demonstrate a strong ability to obtain external funding. Candidates for appointment as Associate Professors or Professors should also be nationally or internationally recognized scholars with consistent, externally-funded research programs. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
