Position Summary

The Vice President Scientific Advisory will lead customer partnership and advisory team of experts advising innovators in developing new therapeutics (small molecule, biologics, cell and gene therapy, nucleic acid therapies and new modalities...), designing tailored development, delivery and manufacturing solutions.

The Vice President Scientific Advisory will be a very visible scientific leader elevating scientific leadership, increasing awareness on company offerings and driving their growth journey toward new modalities. Position will report to the Chief Scientific Officer.

The Role (daily responsibilities)
  • Lead a global team of development, delivery and manufacturing experts providing novel customer partnership with a patient first mindset: helping and advising innovators/customers in the design of the right and tailored solutions specific to their needs applying a technology/site agnostic mindset ; enhancing company's scientific presence at key hubs, raising awareness on company's scientific excellence and ultimately improving business development ability to win and work on more and higher-quality customer programs
  • Develop high-quality, sustainable relationships with R&D executives for company's strategic partners and lead actions to support them now and in the future
  • Directly act as a development, delivery and manufacturing expert providing novel customer partnership in new modalities (ie cell and gene therapy, nucleic acid therapies)
  • Continuously grow and develop the advisory team scientific competencies to support and advise innovators in new/emerging scientific disciplines and modalities
  • Evolve scientific advisory process aiming to quality/breadth of our solutions, speed of response to innovators and ability to win new programs
  • Ensure the global advisory team works with our other R&D functions to identify KOLs and technology partnership opportunities aligned with our priorities and roadmaps

The Candidate (requirements)
  • Minimum MS degree, engineer, pharmacist; PhD preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry is required; CDMO experience is preferred or CMC experience working in the biotechnology field
  • 5+ years of experience in product development for cell therapy, gene therapy or new modalities
  • Complete knowledge of the drug development process, specific knowledge of the early development process and associated industry regulations
  • Experience with multiple customer segments, from small, venture capital backed entrepreneurs to big pharma
