Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates education programs to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. Takes an active role in curriculum design and training for the orientation of clinical staff and offers support for the orientation of other personnel within the agency. This position also takes an active role in providing formalized education programs for staff based on standards of practice, regulatory requirements; staff needs assessment and/or quality improvement recommendations. This position works under the direction of the Manager of Agency Education

Essential Duties:

Illustrative duties may include, but are not restricted to, one or more of the following:
  • Assists with training programs and educational materials for staff training, in-service programs and continuing education.
  • Assists with the design and implementation of orientation programs, which includes bit not limited to: .

o Assessing learning needs of individuals in orientation.

o Planning and implementing an individualized orientation program.

o Developing a competency-based evaluation of learning.

o Recognizing and utilizing appropriate instructional resources to enhance orientation.

o Updating and revising classes/programs.
  • Assists with providing educational programs which includes, but not limted to:.

o Conducting annual and PRN needs assessment in collaboration with Director Quality and leadership team.

o Planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs.

o Utilizing appropriate instructional resources for educational programs.

o Coordinating CPR training.

o Coordinating annual safety and infection control programs.
  • Assists with the planning for continuing education programs for the provider unit.

o Collaborates with agency administrative personnel and co-sponsoring agencies to plan, implement and evaluate education programs.

o Submits and reviews continuing education activities in nursing in accordance with criteria established by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation, the Ohio Nurses Association Committee on Continuing Education in Nursing and the Ohio Board of Nursing.

  • Serves as a consultant to staff.

o Supports care given by members of the health care team while promoting professional growth and positive learning experiences

o Clarifies issues regarding agency policies, procedures and standards.

o Serves as a clinical resource to staff for education.

o Serves as clinical resource for questions and skills to field staff requiring them to go out in the field.
  • Serves as support to clinical management.

o Triages phone calls and schedules visits when necessary

o Collaborates with physicians and other health care providers regarding client's needs

o Makes home visits as needed to monitor ti sopprt teams and monitor patient care trends in order to deliver timely, accurate education and resources for field staff

o Monitors quality and appropriateness of services provided to ensure patient satisfaction
  • Pursues activities which foster professional growth and development.

o Identifies professional goals and seeks educational opportunities to meet them.

o Participates in department goal setting and education.

o Develops a quality assurance mechanism for all educational programs.

o Establishes networking with peers in other institutions.

o Maintains currency with the literature.

o Participates in professional organizations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of clinical experience, 2 years' experience in community health, at least 1 of those in a home health care setting, preferred
  • Two years' experience in education and/or quality improvement in health care preferred.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement and OASIS requirments.
  • Knowledge of Home Care Home Base preferred.
  • Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to legal issues and patients' rights
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge base and actions within patient care utilizing service-specific standards of care
  • Demonstrated verbal and written skills in programs planning and evaluation.
  • Experience working as part of a team and working effectively with persons and communities from diverse cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds. The ability to work in a complex institutional structure requiring significant collaboration.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills utilizing lines of authority appropriately.
  • Strong planning, project management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, within strict time parameters, and with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in written and oral communication.
  • Software experience in a Windows environment.


Required Licenses, Registrations and/or Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse; licensed in the State of Ohio.
  • CPR certification is required. CPR Instructor/Trainer card is required for Instructors.
