What You Will Achieve

This is a laboratory-based analytical scientist position within the Vaccine Research and Development - Analytical Development group. The individual will perform routine sample analysis, develop analytical assays, and develop and execute method qualification and assay transfers in support of early vaccine development for a range of moieties such as lipids, proteins, mRNA, glycoconjugates and adjuvants . Assays include use of standard analytical separations techniques (e.g., HPLC, SEC, CE, IEX, etc.) and spectroscopic techniques (e.g., DLS, UV-VIS, fluorescence, etc.).

How You Will Achieve It
  • In this position, the individual will design, plan, and execute assay development, qualification and transfer studies to support the release, stability and characterization testing of early vaccine candidates.
  • Provide both routine and non-routine sample analysis support for in-process, formulation development, and final vaccine candidates and adjuvants.
  • Plan and prioritize their own assay development and sample testing activities to ensure timelines are met.
  • Document experiments, analyze data, and provide conclusions obtained from assay development/ qualification and sample testing experiments contemporaneously in either an electronic or paper notebook as directed.
  • Present data in the form of summaries or technical reports that are submitted to supervisor/ management for review.
  • Contribute to drafting laboratory methods and reports
  • Collaborate with other colleagues within the analytical group to support completion of assay development and qualification tasks as needed.
  • The individual is expected to contribute and participate in general laboratory maintenance activities (such as maintenance of equipment, managing laboratory waste)


QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have

  • BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline with at least at least 6 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Demonstrate technical skills and scientific expertise in analytical method development, qualification and troubleshooting.
  • Motivated, detail-oriented, with good laboratory skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.


Nice-to-Have

  • MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline with at least at least 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience and proficiency in separation-based analytical techniques (HPLC-UV, HPLC-CAD, HPLC-FLD, and CE), and bioassays (PCR-based techniques such as RT-PCR and qPCR, Slot Blot, and ELISA).
  • Experience with analyzing proteins and polysaccharides is a plus


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Standard laboratory conditions - sitting, standing, primarily lab based
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform complex data analysis
